Overview

In the case that you end up with accounts that represent the same entity, you can merge and consolidate one account into the other. This can be completed via an API call, documented here, or directly in the Persona Dashboard.

The Account merge process treats one account as the “primary” and the other as the “secondary”. The secondary account will be merged into the primary. You’ll have to decides which of your two accounts to select as primary and secondary.

Before you start, copy the account token from your secondary account as you’ll need it as an input.

When merging from the dashboard you also have the option to decide by type which objects from the secondary account will be consolidated into the primary. Those object types include:

• Inquiries
• Verifications
• Reports
• Documents
• Selfied

If you don’t want to merge objects of a specific type from the secondary account into the primary, you can click the relevant dropdown and select “Keep only the primacy account’s existing data”.

You can also toggle off the option to redact the information on the secondary account after the merge and block it from being updated with new information in the future.

Steps

1. Navigate to the account you want to use as the Primary.
2. Click the 3 dot dropdown at the top right, and then select Merge account.
3. Enter the secondary account’s token in the “Secondary Account” field.
4. Make any changes to the Objects dropdowns to control if each object type is merged from the secondary account into the primary account.
5. Click “Confirm” at the bottom right.

Tracking the merge in the Event timeline

Any merge of two accounts will be tracked in the Event timeline in both accounts.

The Primary account with say “Account consolidated with” and then the token from the secondary account. The Secondary account with instead say “Account consolidated to” followed by the token for the Primary account.
