# Editing a user's role

> Assign or remove a user's roles from Team > Users to change the permissions they hold in your Persona organization. Requires permission to edit users.

## Overview

A [role](https://help.withpersona.com/articles/1YVUuhz3cuuGixzulUJkPV/) encapsulates a set of permissions. You can assign one or more users to a role, and each user can be assigned one or more roles.

### Prerequisites

You must be assigned the permission to edit users.

## Steps

1.  In the dashboard, navigate to **Team > Users**.
2.  In the row for the user you want to edit, select **"..." > Assign roles**.
3.  Add or remove roles.

4.  Click **Update Roles**.
