## What is the Markdown module?

The **Markdown module** is a prebuilt component that can be added to a Case layout. It lets you display custom text, like instructions, using markdown syntax. You can define logic that governs when it appears.

The **Markdown module** is often used to include directions for those reviewing cases or to create titled sections for further organizing the case layout (i.e. this section is about an end user's location details, this other section is about the end user's verification attempts).

## How do you add a Markdown module?

This module is added and arranged on the Layout page. For a general overview of how the Layout page works, see [Cases: Layout Editor](https://help.withpersona.com/articles/2f3VkwOHqq202m9kjOYyGk/).
