# What is Persona?

Persona provides a powerful, secure platform to help organizations collect, verify, store, and analyze the identity of any individual in the world.

In simple terms, Persona is a comprehensive identity management platform.

## How does Persona work?

At a high level Persona’s products act like verbs, allowing you to take the actions needed to inform your business decisions, such as the choice to give an individual or business access to your services.

You need to **Collect** identifying information from an entity. That’s an Inquiry.

You already have the data on an entity, but need to **Submit** it to Persona to scrutinize. That’s a Transaction.

You want to **Scrutinize** a piece of identifying information to check if’s it’s authentic and meets your requirements. That’s a Verification.

You want to **Enrich** the data and context on an entity from outside sources. That’s a Report.

You want to **Automate** small and large sequences of tasks. That’s Workflows.

You want or need to manually **Evaluate** a entity with all the relevant context. That’s a Case.

You want to **Curate** all the data about an entity. That’s an Account.

You want to **Analyze** a selection of disparate data points for fraud patterns. That’s Graph.

In isolation, those verbs and products don’t complete the experience. But in combination you can: Send an Inquiry to an End User to collect their personal information, and then run Verifications to scrutinize the information. Depending on the criteria of the Verifications, they may pass or fail which then drive the configured logic of the Inquiry to Complete or Fail. This can then trigger a Workflow which, among many possible actions, starts off a Report like Watchlist Report on the individual in the inquiry. The Workflow then spins up a Case, which collects the Inquiry, its Verifications, and Report results and then marks the Case ready for manual review.
