## Overview

To help you remain compliant with South Korea's updated PIPA regulations, Persona will implement the following changes on 7 Aug 2026:

1. **Resident Registration Numbers (RRNs) are now automatically redacted** from all stored data
2. **Korean identity documents containing RRNs are no longer supported**, including national ID cards, driver's licenses, and pre-2021 passports
3. **Korea Digital ID verification methods are now the recommended approach** for verifying Korean users

## What you need to do

**Most organizations will not need to take any action.** These changes will be automatically applied on 7 Aug 2026.

However, if your organization verifies Korean users, we recommend:

1. **Transitioning to Korea Digital ID verification** (mobile carrier, credit card, or I-PIN methods) as your primary verification method going forward
2. **Reviewing your privacy policy** to ensure it reflects the updated verification methods and includes an explicit call-out that Korea Credit Bureau (KCB) receives and processes end-user data for verification
3. **Consulting with your compliance team** if you have questions about how these changes affect your operations

## Special circumstances

If you believe your organization has a specific statutory mandate to continue collecting or retaining RRNs, please contact your Persona account team **immediately** before these changes go live. We'll need to review your legal justification and approval documentation.
