What is a Required Verification Check?

❓ This question came from a member of the Persona community - a project admin who was trying to collect certain information without it impacting the verification process. This question is useful for those who want to understand or change which Inquiry verification checks are required.

A “Required Verification Check” is one small check in the overall verification process that must be there for the Inquiry as a whole to be marked “verified”.

Verification checks can also be marked “Not Required” if they are just for logging / informational purposes.

How can I see which verification checks are “Required” for an Inquiry?

  1. Open the dashboard.
  2. In the dashboard’s navigation bar, click Inquiries > All Inquiries.
  3. Click on the Inquiry you’re interested in.
  4. In the Inquiry Overview, click on the Verifications tab.

  1. Scroll down to find the Checks section. You may have to click on a specific verification to expand it.
  2. You should see a table of all the verification checks run on this verification attempt. The right-most Required column will have a checkmark if the verification step is required.

How can I change which verification checks are “Required” for an Inquiry?

💡 Verification checks on a Starter plan are always “Required”. The ability to customize verification checks to be “Required” or “Not Required” is available to organizations on paid plans. You can then customize checks based on your organization’s goals for balancing risk and conversion.

You can modify which verification checks are “Required” within an Inquiry template by following these steps:

  1. Open the dashboard.
  2. In the dashboard’s navigation bar, click Inquiries > Templates.
  3. Click on the Inquiry template you’re interested in.
  4. In the top right corner, click on Configure.
  5. In the left toolbar, click on a category under Verifications.
    1. Each category contains several verification checks you can use.
    2. You can scroll down within the “Checks” section to see all available verification checks.
  6. Click on the “Required” box to check or un-check whether its corresponding verification check is required.
  7. Once you’re finished, click Save in the top right corner. You will need to Publish the revised template to use it.
