Progressive with Liveness Verification Solution

Overview

Persona’s Progressive with Liveness Verification solution enables organizations to verify individuals (US only) with minimal friction by first collecting user-inputted attributes in a form (including Social Security Number (SSN)) and running an Authoritative Database Verification. Government ID verification is only required if the Database Verification fails, reducing friction for most users while maintaining strong identity verification coverage. This is often referred to as a "step-up verification" experience.

If Database verification fails, the solution automatically requests a government-issued ID and a selfie liveness check as fallback steps. This progressive approach optimizes conversion while maintaining strong identity assurance.

What’s Included

The Progressive with Liveness Verification solution includes the following components:

1 Inquiry Template

• Database Verification
  • Collects key identity information including name, SSN, and address.
  • Uses the Database Verification to compare provided data against authoritative Social Security Administration records.
  • The Inquiry theme can be customized to match your company’s branding.
• If the Database Verification attempt fails it falls back to Government ID Verification.
• Government ID Verification
  • Automatically collects all ID types by default, including US driver’s licenses and state IDs. You can modify the accepted ID types by following this guide.
  • Requires a Barcode Check which means that both the front and back of ID are collected. While this required check introduces some friction to the user experience, it greatly improves extraction accuracy and overall user experience.
• Selfie Verification
  • Performs selfie liveness checks to confirm identity.

2 Workflows

• Run ‘Decision’ on Inquiry Completed Workflow is triggered on inquiry completion
  • Automatically reviews the verification results and applies your organization’s decisioning rules.
  • You can include additional actions such as triggering reports, notifications, or case escalations.
• Run 'Decision' on Inquiry Failed Workflow triggered on inquiry failure
  • Automatically creates a case for failed inquiries.

1 Case Template

• Progressive with Liveness Verification Manual Review
  • Creates a Case if the user fails any verification or if additional manual review is required.
  • Includes tags or comments indicating why the Case was created, allowing your team to review and resolve cases as needed.

Progressive with Liveness Verification Solution Process

Here’s how the components work together to progressively verify a user’s identity:

1. The Inquiry captures essential user identity information and runs a Database Verification.
2. If Database Verification fails, the Inquiry automatically prompts the user to submit and subsequently run a Government ID Verification.
3. Once the Inquiry is completed, the appropriate workflow is triggered to apply any business and decisioning logic.
4. If the Verifications fail or additional review is needed, a Progressive with Liveness Verification Manual Review Case is automatically created for your team to review.
