Overview
This help center article will help you learn how to easily configure your Politically Exposed Person (PEP) Report list source settings. For more information on how to use the Reports Template Editor overall, please see this help center article.
To access your PEP Report configurations, start by navigating to the PEP Report Template Editor (PEPRTE) specifically. You can do this by hovering over the Reports section of your Dashboard, selecting templates, and clicking on the Watchlist template. You have now landed on PEPRTE.
Configuration Summary
When you click on the configuration tab, you will find the following configurations.
- Template name - this is the name of the template. You can change it from a standard name, to whatever makes most sense to your organization. You can do this simply by typing into the box with the name, and then selecting “Save Report Template” in the upper right hand corner.
PEP classes - We classify risk type into 4 distinct categories:
- Class 1 - High risk:
- Heads of state and government
- Members of government (national and regional)
- Members of parliament (national and regional)
- Heads of Military, judiciary, and law enforcement
- Board members of central banks
- Top-ranking officials of political parties
- Class 2 - Medium risk:
- Senior officials of the military, judiciary, and law enforcement agencies
- Senior officials of other state agencies and bodies and high-ranking civil servants
- Senior members of religious groups
- Ambassadors, consuls, and high commissioners
- Class 3 - Medium risk:
- Senior management and board of directors of state-owned businesses and organizations
- Class 4 - Low risk
- Mayors and members of local, country, city, and district assemblies
- Senior officials and functionaries of international or supranational organizations

- Match filters - you can add further filtering to focus in on the following:
- Allow Relatives & Close Associates - Allow matches for persons who are related or closely associated to PEPs
- Allow sources with no URLs - Allow matches that do not have a URL associated with them
- Allowed countries - Filter by the country of the government position title
Name Match Requirements
Depending on your organization’s use case or needs, you may require either very strict or very liberal matching parameters.
Persona’s customization process is granular and detailed in order to allow our customers more control over what matches they receive, and how often they receive them (false positives).
Name matching for Watchlist has four options:
Exact: matches on exact name and AKAs in article or source.
Strict (Recommended): matches on exact name, allowing for subset name matching and initial matching.
Tolerant: allows for flexible matching inclusive of all settings. Allows room for typos.
Custom: set your own custom match profile.

Birthdate Matching
Birthdate matching for Watchlist has three options:
Exact date: matches on the exact date and year that is input into the report.
Exact year: matches on the year that is put into the report.
Within +/- 1 year from birth year (default setting): matches on the year +/- 1 year to allow for additional catches.

Continuous Monitoring
When you click on the Continuous monitoring tab, you will see your current continuous monitoring settings, and the cadence that the continuous monitoring is set to.
