Reusable Personas Overview

What is a Reusable Persona?

đź“Ť This guide is written for customers whose end-users complete a Persona identity verification flow via Reusable Personas.

Reusable Personas allow users to seamlessly store and reuse their verified personally identifiable information (PII) across devices and the ever-growing Persona network.

What’s the benefit to Persona customers?

End users can create a Reusable Persona to securely save their PII and speed up future verification flows on other businesses that use Persona to verify identities.

How does this change Inquiry flows?

Creation Flow: When an end user that doesn’t yet have a Reusable Persona reaches the last screen of a flow, Persona will present the option to create a Reusable Persona and store the PII that they have shared.

Example: Reusable Persona Create

Verify Flow: When an end user with a Reusable Persona sees a new flow, Persona will present the option to use a passkey to share the PII on the Reusable Persona instead of procuring their forms of identification again.

Example: Reusable Persona Verify
đź“Ť To share feedback with the team about Reusable Personas or to inquire about a change to your Reusable Personas configuration (like enabling or disabling) for a specific Inquiry template, reach out to customer support by navigating to the Help Center > Click "Submit a Request" under "Get Help Now" > Click "Something Else" to share more details.

What is stored in the RP?

Depending on what information is requested and successfully verified, information such as name, birthdate, address, ID document, and selfie may be saved in the Reusable Persona.

The information stored inside a Reusable Persona is encrypted using a passkey stored only on the end-users device, which means use of the Reusable Persona and any PII within it is controlled by the end user.

The end user decides if and when any information is shared. No one, including Persona or the business who needs to verify their identity, has access unless they provide permission.

Whose data is it?

The data held in the Reusable Persona belongs to the end user, not to Persona customers.

Unlike the data Persona processes on behalf of customer, Persona acts as the controller, as described in data privacy law, of the Reusable Persona. When consuming Reusable Personas, customer shall be a controller of the data retrieved from the Reusable Persona and the transfer of the data to the customer shall be considered a controller-to-controller transfer.

Subsequently, when the data is processed on Customer’s behalf outside of the Reusable Persona, Persona shall act as the processor in accordance with the agreement between the Customer and Persona.

How can my end users manage their data?

End-users can download the Persona app on either Apple App Store and Google’s Play Store. The Persona App allows end users to create and manage the verified PII stored on Reusable Personas such as additional forms of identification (i.e. drivers licenses, passports).
