Social Media Report

Social Media Report

Overview

The Social Media Report surfaces the social media profiles associated with an individual. When given enough profile information about a person, the report returns a consolidated view of that person’s publicly visible social presence across major networks, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and GitHub. Each surfaced profile comes back with its URL, username, and network-specific identifiers, so you can review which accounts are genuinely tied to the person being screened.

Use Case

Social media signals are commonly used to support identity verification and fraud review. Many organizations pair this report with their KYC/KYB and onboarding flows to corroborate that an applicant is who they say they are, or to look at an individual’s public footprint before moving forward with a relationship or a transaction. Surfaced profile links let you go straight to the source account and review it for yourself.

Report Features

Search Inputs

  • Name of individual — first and last (required)
  • Birthdate (optional)
  • Address (optional)
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Email address (optional)

The inputs are typically collected during a KYC Inquiry. A report requires enough identifying information to run — at minimum a phone number, an email address, or a name combined with an address.

Report Outputs

If a match is found, the report returns the social profiles associated with the individual. Each profile includes the network it belongs to, the profile URL, and the username (and where available, the network-specific account ID).

  • LinkedIn: profile URL, username, and ID
  • Facebook: profile URL, username, and ID
  • Twitter/X: profile URL and username
  • GitHub: profile URL and username
  • Instagram: profile URL and username

Each result also carries a likelihood score for how confidently the returned profiles are tied to the submitted person. Matching on a name alone is not enough to confirm identity — the same name frequently belongs to more than one person — so the likelihood score tells you how strong the match is before you act on the surfaced accounts.

Workflow-Accessible Fields

The returned social profile URLs and usernames are available to reference in Workflows, so you can route a Case for review, trigger an action, or include the profile links in a notification based on whether profiles were found and how strong the match is.

Notifications

The best way to be notified immediately when a Social Media Report finishes is to set up a webhook listening for the event type report/social-media.ready. This event fires whenever the report runs, regardless of whether a match was found.

Configuration Options

Configuration options for the Social Media Report are set on the report template. By default, all settings use Persona’s recommended values. Please contact the Persona support team to make changes to your report configurations.

  • Minimum likelihood: How strong a match must be before returned profiles count as belonging to the submitted person. Set as a score between 0 and 10; higher values return fewer, more confident matches.
  • Include matched fields: Whether the report returns the profile fields that were matched to the submitted person.
  • Required fields: Which identifying fields must be present for the report to run.

Continuous Monitoring

The Social Media Report is designed to be run on demand as part of an inquiry, returning a snapshot of a person’s social footprint at the time the report runs. If you need to re-screen a person over time, you can run the report again as part of a recurring workflow.

FAQs

Can I control how loose or strict the matching is?

Yes. The minimum likelihood setting controls how closely the returned profiles must match the information you submit. If you are seeing too many questionable matches, raise the minimum; if you are missing profiles, lower it.
