What these configurations cover
Business Registry Verification checks the business name, address, and, where applicable, registration number an end user submits against a record in a country’s business registry. Its configurations decide which Verification checks the template requires, and how closely a submitted attribute has to line up with the registry record before it counts as a match.
Business Registry Verification offers required or un-required Verification checks, Verification check sub-configurations, and default match groups per supported country.
Where to find it in the Dashboard
- Documentation > Verification Checks lists every check available. Find the section for Business Registry checks.
- Inquiries > Templates is where the change is made for a Business Registry Verification Template inside an Inquiry Template. Select the template, use the left panel of the Flow Editor to head to Verifications, select Business Registry Verification, then open Checks. Some checks expand with an arrow to reveal further options.
- Verifications > Templates is the path for a Business Registry Verification Template that is not attached to an Inquiry Template. Select the Business Registry Verification template, then open Checks.
The match groups sit on the Business Registry Verification Template itself and are filterable by country.
Required checks and match groups
Two kinds of setting sit here, and they are changed in different ways.
Required checks decide what has to pass, and you can edit them yourself. A required check that fails fails the Verification even when everything else matched: if Active Business Detection is required and the business is currently inactive, the Verification fails that check although every provided field may have matched the registry.
Match groups are what “match” means for a given country. Each national registry has its own number formats, languages, and address conventions, so Persona ships default match groups per supported country, built from country specific normalization and comparison methods. The identity comparison check passes as soon as one applicable match group is satisfied. To adjust the match requirements in a country, or which match groups are needed to pass, work with your Persona account team. For how the frameworks behind them work, see Understanding matching frameworks within Business Registry Verification.
When to reach for it
Reach for required checks when the template is passing businesses whose registry record should have disqualified them, or failing ones that exist. Reach for your account team when the defaults for a specific country are the thing getting in the way.
