What these configurations cover

Government ID Verification extracts and analyzes a government issued ID. A Government ID Verification Template is where you decide what it will accept and what it has to prove, and the settings fall into three groups.

Checks. Which Verification checks run, and which of them are required. Some checks have further options once you expand them.
Capture methods. How the end user gets the image to you.
Countries and ID types. Which documents count as acceptable, and which sides of them you need.

Where to find it in the Dashboard

Documentation > Verification Checks is the reference for the checks themselves. Find the section for Government ID checks.

To change a template, open Inquiries > Templates and select a template that uses Government ID Verification. In the Flow Editor, use the left panel to navigate to Verifications, select the Government ID Verification template, then open Checks.

Reviewing Verification checks from Verifications > Templates, which is the path for a template used alongside a Transaction, a Workflow, or the API, is available on Enterprise Plans.

Checks, capture, and documents

Required checks set the strictness. If a required check fails, the Inquiry fails. A check that is enabled but not required still runs and its result is logged, but it does not change the Inquiry outcome. Some checks compare a submission against other data you hold, which is a different question from whether the document itself is genuine.

Capture methods are configured separately for desktop web and mobile native submissions and include guided capture, unguided capture, file upload, device handoff, and autoclassification. See Capture methods.

Countries and ID types decide which documents are acceptable. The main types are driver’s license, passport, and national ID. Each accepted type also carries a required sides setting, and in some countries the back side must be collected before information can be extracted at all. When to reach for it

Reach for the checks when your pass rates or fraud exposure tell you the requirements are wrong. Reach for countries and ID types when your end users hold documents the template does not yet accept. Some settings in the third group are prerequisites for checks in the first, so a check that never seems to run is often a countries and ID types problem.

If your Verification check configurations are fully managed by your Persona team, you will not be able to edit them yourself. Contact your customer success manager instead.
