Selfie Verification configurations

What these configurations cover

Selfie Verification compares a selfie against a Government ID portrait and runs liveness checks. Its configurations decide which Verification checks are required, how the selfie is captured, and what it is compared against. The last two are not cosmetic: they determine which checks can run at all.

Selfie Verification offers required or un-required Verification checks, Verification check sub-configurations, and, when used with Inquiries, collection settings such as device handoff and the choice between center only capture and the full three point composite.

Where to find it in the Dashboard

Documentation > Verification Checks lists every check available. Find the section for Selfie checks.
Inquiries > Templates is where the change is made. Select a template that uses Selfie Verification, use the left panel of the Flow Editor to head to Verifications, select the Selfie Verification template, then open Checks. Some checks expand with an arrow to reveal further options.

Reviewing Verification checks from Verifications > Templates, which is the path for a template used alongside a Transaction, a Workflow, or the API, is available on Enterprise Plans.

The two Selfie settings worth knowing first

Pose to capture sets how many facial poses the end user is prompted for. Left, center and right captures three; center only captures a single forward facing image.

Compare to sets which Government ID Verification the comparison checks, such as Selfie to ID and Age comparison, are run against. The options are the first passed ID verification, the last passed ID verification, or the last passed or failed ID verification.

When to reach for it

Reach for pose to capture when you are trading fraud resistance against how much you are asking of an end user. Reach for compare to when an Inquiry can contain more than one Government ID Verification and it matters which one the selfie is measured against.
