Overview
Correlated Verifications compares the images in a Selfie or Government ID Verification submission against the images in other submissions from the past 14 days, and surfaces the ones that look most alike. It appears as a section on the verification detail page in the Dashboard, below the submission itself.
Searches only run against submissions in the same environment, so your Production traffic is never compared against another organization’s, and never against your own Sandbox.
A correlated verification is not a confirmed case of a fraudulent account. Whether that resemblance matters depends entirely on how your organization uses Persona. For example, a service that allows duplicate users should not treat two Accounts with similar images as a definitive sign of risky behavior on its own.
Correlated Verifications is informational. It never changes a verification’s status, never adds a fail reason, and is not something you can require or configure on a Verification Template.

- Similar selfie attributes
- Similarities in ID images, including templates and other visual features
How matches are labeled
Matches are labeled by a weighted scoring system, applied across all similarity attributes unique to each verification type:
- Near-exact match
- Strong match
- Faint match
- No match
Next steps
Open the matched verifications. Every match links through to its own verification. Look at the Accounts behind them and check whether anything else lines up: the same device, the same IP range, sequential email addresses, or sign-ups minutes apart.
Correlated Verifications will not automatically block future correlated verifications, so turning a confirmed pattern into an automated fraud rule is a separate step. Depending on what you find, you might:
- Add the image to a List so future submissions match against it directly.
- Enable the Repeat check on the relevant Verification Templates, such as Government ID Verification, if it isn’t already on.
- Build a Graph query around the shared attributes between Accounts for further investigation.
- Add combinations of confirmed attributes into a Workflow to automatically open a Case, step up the user into additional verifications, or decline the verification.
