This question came from a member of the Persona community, a marketer who wanted to show that their sign-up flow is backed by Persona. This is useful for anyone putting the Persona name or logo in front of their own users.
By default, all hosted or embedded Persona inquiry screens include the Persona logo, a “Secured with Persona” message, and a link to Persona’s privacy policy. If an inquiry flow includes selfie verification, the first screen of the inquiry will also include consent and data retention information in compliance with the Biometric Information Privacy Act.
If you would like to provide additional information about Persona for your end users, please follow these guidelines:
-
Use language that positions Persona as a tool or platform for identity verification, e.g.: ✅ Verified with Persona ✅ Verification powered by Persona ✅ We use Persona for identity verification
-
Clearly explain your organization’s identity verification policies and process, including:
- Why end users are being asked to verify their identity
- What end users can expect from your organization’s inquiry flows, including what documents and/or personal information they will need to provide
- How end users can resolve common issues with identity verification (feel free to copy or link directly to Persona’s troubleshooting tips for different verification processes)
This Coursera help article and this Outdoorsy help article are good examples of effective end user-facing documentation.
-
Direct end users to Persona’s privacy notices for information about how personal information is collected and secured.
-
Direct end users to Persona’s end user help documentation for additional information about identity verification, including FAQs and troubleshooting tips.
-
Provide an email address or contact form routed to your organization’s support team for end users who are unable to complete their identity verification. Because your organization controls your inquiry flows and verification requirements, your team is best positioned to explain why an end user’s inquiry was declined.
If you would like to use the Persona logo or other visual branding on your website or app (outside of hosted or embedded Persona inquiry screens) please contact us for approval and guidance.
