CRS Credit integration overview

CRS Credit integration overview

Overview

CRS Credit is a unified credit data integration platform that helps you access consumer credit reports and scores through a single, standardized format.

Persona’s CRS Credit integration lets teams request a TransUnion credit report directly from a Persona workflow and use the returned credit attributes (such as alerts, trade lines, inquiries, and score data) to support underwriting, risk review, or compliance-driven investigations—without manual rekeying.

This integration is in a beta, so if you have interest in running credit checks, please notify your account team.

Benefits

  • Faster decisioning: Automatically pull a consumer credit report and score at the moment it’s needed (for example, when a case is created or an application reaches a review step).
  • Standardized outputs: Receive credit report data in CRS Standard Format, making it easier to use consistently across workflows and downstream systems.
  • Reduced manual work: Avoid switching tools and copying fields between systems by mapping Persona data directly into the credit request inputs.

Integration Features

Persona’s CRS Credit integration enables automated credit data retrieval inside Persona. Key capabilities include:

  • Order TransUnion credit reports: Request a TransUnion consumer credit report and VantageScore 4.0 score from within a workflow action. This is a soft credit pull and does not affect the consumer's credit score.

Setting up the CRS Credit integration

Prerequisites

To set up the CRS Credit integration, ensure you have:

  • Admin access to your CRS Credit account
  • Necessary API permissions to access CRS Credit credentials

Setting up the CRS Credit Credentials

  1. In the Persona Dashboard, navigate to Integrations > Marketplace and click on CRS Credit.
  2. Click on Add Credential at the top of the page.
  3. Enter the Nickname for Credential and click Continue.
  4. Follow the prompts to connect your CRS Credit account.
  5. Click Test to confirm the credential is working.

Using the CRS Credit integration in a workflow

  1. Create a new workflow, or open an existing workflow you’d like to update.
  2. Add a new action step > Integrations.
  3. Select the CRS Credit integration and choose your saved CRS Credit credentials.
  4. Select the operation you want to run, then map Persona fields into the CRS Credit input fields.
  5. Save/publish the workflow.

CRS Credit Operations Overview

In addition to syncing field values, Persona can order consumer credit reports and retrieve standardized credit report and score data using CRS Credit’s API. These actions support seamless two-way workflows, letting teams manage investigations without switching platforms.
See below for a comprehensive list of available Workflow Action steps and possible configurations for the CRS Credit integration:

Order TransUnion Credit Report Workflow Action Step

Pulls a TransUnion consumer credit report and VantageScore 4.0 credit score for an individual, then returns the results in CRS Standard Format. This is useful when your team needs credit attributes at a specific point in a Persona workflow—such as an underwriting decision, a manual review queue, or a compliance checkpoint.

Take extra care to ensure you only test with sandbox credentials. Once you make API requests with your production CRS credentials, they will produce real credit reports.

Because the returned payload can include credit file details, trade lines, inquiries, public records, alerts, and summary fields, you can use the response to drive workflow routing and decision logic (for example, escalating to review when specific alerts are present).

Configuration Steps:

  • Provide values for required fields:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Social Security Number (9 digits)
    • Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD)
    • Addresses (at least one), including:
      • Address line 1
      • City
      • State (two-letter code)
      • Postal code (5 or 9 digits)
  • Optionally add:
    • Middle name
    • Suffix
    • Address line 2
    • Residency type (for example, current vs. prior)

FAQs

Does CRS Credit support multiple credit bureaus?

CRS Credit supports connecting to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The Persona integration documentation here reflects the workflow action(s) available in this CRS Credit OpenAPI specification—currently, ordering a TransUnion credit report and score.

What information do I need to order a TransUnion credit report?

You’ll need the consumer’s name, Social Security Number, date of birth, and at least one address (with street, city, state, and postal code). Providing complete and accurate identity details helps CRS Credit match to the correct credit file.

Can I use CRS Credit in both sandbox and production?

Yes. CRS Credit provides both sandbox and production environments, and you can configure Persona credentials accordingly (for example, create one credential for sandbox testing and another for production usage).

What happens if a credit file can’t be returned?

If CRS Credit can’t return a credit file for a given request, the response may include status and message fields indicating why (for example, “no hit,” “thin file,” or a credit freeze-related outcome), along with error or alert messages that can be mapped into your workflow for handling and escalation logic.
