This guide is for individuals going through a Persona-powered identity verification flow. While we’ve included helpful tips, the verification was set up by the business, service, or organization that asked you to verify. They use Persona as a tool, and they ultimately decide what’s required and can assist with your specific situation, if you’re having trouble.
A wait is not a bad sign
Reaching the end of the flow and then hearing nothing for a while is common, and it does not mean something went wrong. It usually means your submission is with the business now rather than with you.
Why it can take a while
- What the business set up. Some businesses add steps of their own after the verification flow ends. That is how they chose to set it up, not a fault.
- A closer look. A submission can be routed to a person to review rather than being handled automatically.
- The business’s own process. Accounts and applications are often updated on the business’s schedule, in batches, or during working hours.
What we cannot promise
Nobody can tell you it will clear in a few minutes, or by the end of the day. There is no fixed timeframe: it depends entirely on how the business set up its process and what it does with a result once it has one. Persona built the verification technology, so we cannot see or speed up an individual case, and we cannot pass on feedback about it. That is the business’s to give.
What you can do
- Do not resubmit straight away. Starting over can undo the wait you have already done rather than shorten it.
- Keep any reference number the business gave you.
- Ask the business that asked you to verify. They are the only ones who can see where you stand and tell you what happens next. See how long verification takes for the wider picture.
