This guide is for individuals going through a Persona-powered identity verification flow. While we’ve included helpful tips, the verification was set up by the business, service, or organization that asked you to verify. They use Persona as a tool, and they ultimately decide what’s required and can assist with your specific situation, if you’re having trouble.
Why the browser blocks the camera
Browsers ask before letting a site use your camera, and if you click “Deny” once, many browsers remember it. On some browsers the setting sits behind the padlock or the site settings menu.
Allow the camera
- Find the padlock icon in the address bar next to the site URL.
- Open the site settings or camera permission from there.
- Set the camera to “Allow” and refresh the page.
- On phones, check the browser’s settings under site permissions, and make sure the operating system has not blocked camera access for the browser app.
After allowing it
Refresh the page and start the flow again. The flow should now ask for the camera and show your feed. If it still fails, see camera shows a black screen or camera won’t work.
