This guide is for individuals going through a Persona-powered identity verification flow. While we’ve included helpful tips, the verification was set up by the business, service, or organization that asked you to verify. They use Persona as a tool, and they ultimately decide what’s required and can assist with your specific situation, if you’re having trouble.
Start with the business you verified with
For most verifications, Persona provides the tools a business uses to check who you are, and the business decides what is collected, how long it is kept, and what happens to it afterwards. That makes them the right people to ask, and the ones responsible for helping you with the request.
Contact the business that asked you to verify. Their privacy policy or support page will say how to make a deletion request, and Persona will act on what they instruct us to do with the data we hold for them.
When Persona holds the data itself
Some experiences are Persona’s rather than a business’s. A Persona Wallet is the common one: the verified details you save there are yours, held by Persona, and reused across verification flows you choose. You can delete a wallet yourself in the Persona Wallet App.
For anything else where Persona holds your information directly, use the Persona privacy portal to make the request.
If you are not sure which of the two you are dealing with, ask the business first. They can tell you, and if it turns out to be a Persona-held record they will point you at the portal.
What deletion covers
Deletion removes your personal information from normal use. Records that have to be kept for legal, accounting, security, or regulatory reasons can remain, and whoever handles your request will tell you if part of it cannot be done.

How long a request takes
That depends on where you are and what you are asking for, and it is set by the privacy laws that apply to you rather than by Persona. Whoever you send the request to will tell you what to expect.
